An 8-hour audio collage for Freiraum, an open space at the heart of the building of Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg, that is to serve as a new meeting, resting and project space for museum employees and visitors as well as for neighbours and travellers. The Freiraum can be accessed free of charge during the museum’s opening hours as a congenial place to linger, read, work and converse with others.
The hosts, Nina Lucia Groß and Tilman Walther, are working with various people and groups from Hamburg to develop events, get-togethers and occasions that respond to current exhibitions at the museum as a way of temporarily activating the space and encouraging interaction and learning between the museum and the city’s various communities.
In cooperation with the design and architecture collective ConstructLab, the design of the space and thus the possibilities for its use will continue to be adapted and expanded over time to fit the needs of its users. Visitors to the space will be able to comment on these changes, discussions and processes in a public archive accessible on site.
